Typical infrared sauna sessions last between 15-45 minutes.
You can use the infrared sauna several times a week, but it’s always best to listen to your body and take rest days when needed.
Hydrate before your session by drinking plenty of water. Listen to your body and exit the sauna if you feel uncomfortable. Hydrate again after your session to replenish fluids.
Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air, infrared saunas use infrared light to directly warm your body. This can provide a variety of health benefits.
Most healthy adults can safely use an infrared sauna. However, it’s important to consult with your doctor before using one if you have any health concerns, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or are pregnant.
It’s best to wear minimal clothing, such as a swimsuit or towel, in the sauna. Refrain from bringing anything electronic (phones, headphones) or flammable into the sauna.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. The classes are conducted on a soft surface in a dojo so no shoes are allowed. Bring along a towel and water. All weights, punching bags and other equipment are provided. Boxing gloves can be borrowed.
Boxing sessions take place at AKKA Martial Arts in Osborne Park. There is a carpark at the front of the building. There is plenty of street parking for the outdoor sessions. Please note, there are ticketed parking areas around Holyrood Park.
Sessions go for 45 minutes. Warm ups and cool downs are maximised so there is more time to workout!
